Hello Illini in Georgia/Atlanta:

Thanks for plugging into the online Atlanta Illini / Illini_Georgia groups!

This is an inclusive group of alumni of the University of Illinois who are also collaborating with the Atlanta chapter of UIAA, the Black Alumni Network, and other great alumni groups to provide access to information, resources, and events relevant to the UofI alumni living in Georgia and those relocating here.

Feel free to pass on this newsletter to Illini that you think would want to plug into this info.

Fighting Illini

The Atlanta Chapter newsletter on yahoo groups highlights and features all of the most relevant Fighting Illini info.
If you'd like for Pat Bowen to send this newsletter directly to you, email her at atlantaillini@yahoo.com
or just subscribe to the yahoo group for convenient updates by email, as well.

Black Alumni Network

The official Black Alumni Network (a special chapter of the UIAA) is being headed up by
Kevin McFall and has just successfully completed the first annual Black Alumni Reunion this past November. It was a great success, and included Ambassador and Former Senator Carol Moseley-Braun, selections from the famous Black Chorus, a comedy night and more. You can watch video excerpts on the blog at http://uiucblackalums.blogspot.com/

The unofficial Black Alumni online network for Illini all over the world is called "IlliniSoul" and is located at
http://uiucalumni.ning.com/. There are about 3,000 Illini from all generations who are members of this site. It's a very exciting place to reconnect with friends, professors, and colleagues.

Celebrating Birthdays

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MALISA AND ALL JANUARY BORN ILLINI!

I know about Malisa Anderson's birthday, but haven't yet gotten plugged in with most other Illini in the Facebook group.
We are looking for ideas on the best way to celebrate birthdays every month. If you have ideas and/or would like to volunteer, see the contact information below.

ONLINE VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERS

BTW (by the way), if you can spare about 10 minutes or more per week, we could use some help with maintaining our online presence.
To submit ideas and/or to volunteer, send a private email to illini.georgia at gmail dot com.

Have a wonderful day, and hope to see you around on the net sometime soon.

--Donna

By the way, my name is Donna. I am just a virtual volunteer who is assisting with getting our Atlanta / Georgia chapter of UIAA plugged into the more well-known social networks.
